May 7. Chat with an NBA Pro

After winning an NBA championship with the Boston Celtics and Larry Bird in 1986, Sam Vincent joined Chicago Bulls. The Bulls team, with Michael Jordan at the helm, is currently in the news as the feature of ESPN’s globally acclaimed series, The Last Dance.

Vincent’s career playing alongside the greats of the NBA helped him later during his years as a coach, both in the NBA and internationally in South Africa, Greece, the Netherlands, Bahrain, and Nigeria. Vincent led the Nigerian women’s team to victory over South Korea in the 2004 Olympics, resulting in the first victory by an African team in the women’s basketball event at the Games. His professional basketball career has also shaped his approach to motivational speaking and leading educational programs for corporations and youth development, including topics such as Teamwork/Teambuilding, Goal Setting, and Performance Improvement.

Vincent’s life in sports and beyond will be showcased in this webinar, which will include a Q&A portion. As the recently appointed Head of International Basketball Relations and Development for the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), Sam Vincent will share his new program and challenge, Championship Principles – training and learning during a global shutdown. The webinar will also include giving feedback to Sports Diplomacy alumnus Mahmoud Hebi, Program Director at Hoops for Peace, on Hebi’s training program during the COVID-19 crisis.
