Can math help athletes and coaches?

The webinar explains why sports analytics and data play an increasingly large role in trying to improve individual and group performance and what can a coach or administrator do, short of having full access to technology that only large organizations can afford, to take advantage of the advances in data science.

To address this topic, we invited Vinay Mullick, an engineer but also experienced sports development professional, who reflects, through his own professional trajectory, the transition from building a solid youth sports community, in Chicago to a position with a company
data analytics platform used nationally by schools and grassroots organizations. The Influence of Data Analysis in Athlete Selection was the focus of Coach Ruben Lezcano (PhD), who has worked with professional football clubs in Spain and the national teams in Armenia. NBA’s Director for Strategy & Analytics, Patrick Harrel has been invited to provide a basketball perspective on the role of data in performance assessment and enhancement.
The webinar covers sports development and entrepreneurship as well as the intricacies of using science to improve results.

  • Patrick Harrel | Director, Basketball Strategy & Analytics, National Basketball Association (NBA) | U.S.
  • Dr. Ruben Lezcano | Football Coach and Consultant | Spain
